In this episode, I talk about how I became interested in geology and about the four reasons I think geology is important.  These are:

  1. Understanding the past will help us understand what is happening now and into the future.
  2. Soil and water resources – to help us live.
  3. Minerals and energy – to drive our society’s needs.
  4. Natural hazards – to reduce our risks.

I also encourage people to look through this website – read about geology topics in the Earth Science Snippets page or consider joining us on one of our amazing field adventures.

This is my very first podcast recording…and so I am a little rough.   🙂

But I would love to hear your feedback.  Write me a comment below about topics you would like to hear about?  What got your involved in geology or rockhounding?   Are you a student, a teacher, a retiree?   Maybe you would like to to tell your story as part of the podcast series?   Let me know what you think?   Help make this podcast be something that can really help you!
