One of the biggest surprises… was the attendance of “Gary the Geologist”. OMGoodness… that completely changed the whole (caching) experience! Having someone with that level of knowledge on hand made an enormous difference. Throughout the day Gary shared explanations about the formations we were looking at, the processes that created them and how the landscape has changed over time.

I learnt so much from the talks. Seeing the features in person while having them explained in a clear and practical way made everything much easier to understand. The discussions were straightforward and the examples provided really helped connect the dots between what we were seeing and the geological history behind it. While I may still struggle to name exactly which geological period everything belongs to, I can now better distinguish the different timeframes and understand how these formations developed.
