Will you support a student in attending a trip?
Every year we get requests from college/University students wanting to join one of our trips and hoping that there was some financial support to offset the costs. Unfortunately, we have been unable to offer that support.
In memory of Barb Waters…
I few years ago, one of our trip participants Barb Waters provided some funds to help a student attend. It was a very generous gesture and a student had a reduced cost to attend that very same trip.
Barb passed away in late August 2022. Barb was a very special person – she came with me to Hawaii and Iceland over the last few years. She was always so much fun to be with – and asked such wonderful questions. She always made me and other participants laugh and smile – her energy and passion for all science were beyond compare.
So, somewhat in Barb’s memory, I have started up this scholarship fund and have seeded it with the same amount of money Barb first provided. But I hope others might also donate so the fund can build and we can support a student each year by providing them an opportunity to join a trip at a lower fee…and hopefully expose them to wonderful people like Barb who can let them see that a passion and love of science can be with you throughout your life.
